You can ask for information and support about breastfeeding during pregnancy
Sometimes midwives don't have time to cover everything during your antenatal appointments, and you may need to ask for some additional information. Please see our page with resources about breastfeeding.
You may be entitled to free breastfeeding classes at the hospital where you will be giving birth. These are often offered during the third trimester of pregnancy, and sometimes before. Try to attend if you can.
Some hospitals also have lactation consultants who can chat to you one-on-one during pregnancy. Ask the hospital staff about this.
You can also contact the Australian Breastfeeding Association during pregnancy by phone, 1800 686 268.
